ZENITH has completed the installation and commissioning of an MTW178G euro-type trapezium mill for a limestone powder production line in Shenchi town, Xinzhou, Shanxi, China. The project was handed over to the customer in January 2025 and is now running steadily on limestone feed, delivering 200 mesh powder at 16 to 18 t/h.

The MTW178G is the workhorse trapezium model in ZENITH's MTW series, and it was selected for this line because the customer's limestone is hard and the required product is a fine 200 mesh powder used for building materials. The mill is installed together with a full cyclone separation and dust collection circuit, so the line can be started and stopped as one unit.

Hoisting and positioning

Before the mill body was lifted, our site team checked the foundation pit, the embedded anchors and the lifting clearance against the drawings. The cyclone pair and the steel support frame were set up first, and the MTW178G grinding unit was then hoisted onto the prepared base and aligned. On-site fit-up between the mill and the cyclone inlet was checked in place so that no later re-work would be needed once the pipework was connected.

Single-machine commissioning

With the pipework and the feed inlet in place, the mill was run empty first to confirm the direction of rotation, the lubrication points and the tightening of the grinding rollers. After that, limestone was fed in gradually while the feed rate was adjusted by hand. The ZENITH engineers stayed on site through the whole stage and kept the parameters recorded so that the same settings could be handed to the customer's own operators.

Line commissioning and dust circuit

The last stage was the full-line trial. Feed, grinding, air separation and the cyclone collection were run together, and the fan and ducting were balanced so the mill could hold a stable airflow. In the line photographs the complete MTW178G set can be seen together with the cyclone collectors, the feed conveyor and the drive package, all installed inside the customer's workshop bay.

Once the closed-circuit trial was finished, the product was sampled. The 200 mesh limestone powder produced from this line has a uniform colour and no visible oversize, and the material is now stockpiled in the workshop ready for dispatch to the customer's building materials customers.

Handover and operator training

The commissioning ended with a technical handover. ZENITH handed over the parameter records, explained the routine maintenance points such as roller and liner inspection intervals, and trained the customer's operators on start-up, shut-down and the adjustment of the feed rate.
