ZENITH Commissions LM130N Vertical Roller Mill for Feldspar Grinding in Brazil — 325 Mesh for Building Materials

2026-10-14 16:26:03

ZENITH has completed the installation and commissioning of an LM130N vertical roller mill for a feldspar grinding project in Brazil. The new line grinds feldspar to a fineness of 325 mesh, supplying fine feldspar powder to the building-materials industry.

From steel structure to first powder

Commissioning a grinding plant overseas is as much an engineering exercise as an equipment supply. The LM130N was delivered to site as a complete set and erected inside the customer's plant building on a purpose-built steel structure. ZENITH's commissioning engineers then worked through mechanical installation, alignment and no-load testing before the mill was fed with material for the first time.

Because the whole circuit — mill, classifier, dust collector, fans and ducting — has to work as one system, the commissioning phase focused on matching airflow and classifier speed to the required 325 mesh cut. Once the parameters were set, the line ran continuously and delivered powder within specification.

Grinding feldspar to 325 mesh

Feldspar is a hard, abrasive mineral, and grinding it to 325 mesh (about 45 µm) puts a continuous load on the wear parts. The LM series vertical roller mill handles this duty by grinding the material between rollers and a rotating table; the ground powder is carried upward by an air stream and separated in a high-efficiency classifier, while material that is still too coarse falls back to the table for further grinding. The result is a finished powder that stays within the target fineness.

A clean, automated circuit

Dust control is designed in rather than added on. The line runs under negative pressure, with a pulse-jet bag filter collecting the fine powder and returning it to the product stream, so the working area stays clean and emissions stay within limits. The whole circuit is monitored from a central control system that shows the mill, fan, classifier and conveying equipment on a single screen, letting operators follow the process and adjust it in real time.

From powder to packed product

Downstream of the mill, the feldspar powder is stored and packed for shipment. The customer's plant uses bulk bags and a bagging line to move the finished powder from the silo to the warehouse, where it is stacked ready for delivery to ceramics, glass and other building-materials customers.

Working alongside the customer

Commissioning is a joint effort. ZENITH's engineers worked on site together with the customer's own team, covering mechanical and electrical checks, start-up, parameter tuning and operator training, so that the plant could take over day-to-day running with confidence.
