Grinding plays an important role in the spodumene production process for lithium carbonate.

Efficiently converting spodumene into the core component of lithium battery materials requires a series of sophisticated processes. After crushing, the spodumene is finely ground in a grinding mill to fully dissociate the minerals. Flotation separates gangue minerals to improve the grade of the lithium concentrate. High-temperature calcination transforms the spodumene from the α phase to the β phase, enhancing its chemical reactivity. Acidification or alkaline leaching is then used to produce soluble lithium salts. Finally, the lithium solution is purified to produce the lithium carbonate product.
