1. Oil Drilling: Barite powder can be used as a weighting agent for circulating drilling mud in rotary drilling of oil and gas wells.
2. Plastics Industry: Barite powder is used as a filler to give products a bright luster and improve strength, rigidity, and wear resistance.
3. Paper Industry: Barite powder can be used as a paper filler and coating filler to improve whiteness and surface coverage.
4. Chemical Industry: Barite can be used to produce various barium compounds such as barium carbonate, barium chloride, barium sulfate, and zinc barium white.

5. Cement Industry: In the cement industry, barite, along with fluorite and gypsum, is used as a composite mineralizer.
6. Construction Industry: Barite can be used as concrete aggregate and paving material.
7. Glass Industry: Barite powder is used as a deoxidizer and flux to increase the optical stability, gloss, and strength of glass.
8. Rubber Industry: Barite powder can reduce costs, improve hardness, acid and alkali resistance, and water resistance, and has a reinforcing effect. 9. Coatings and Paints: Barite powder is used as a filler to give products a bright and stable color.

10. Other Industries: It is used as a high-quality filler in industries such as ceramics.
In international trade, barite is generally classified into the following three grades according to different uses:
(1) Drilling Grade: Requirements: Density ≥ 4.2 g/cm³, BaSO₄ > 92%, residue on 200 mesh sieve < 3%, residue on 325 mesh sieve < 5%.
(2) Chemical Grade: Requirements: BaSO₄ > 95%, Fe₂O₃ and SrSO₄ content not exceeding 1%, trace amounts of silicon dioxide and calcium oxide are allowed.
(3) Paint Grade: Requirements: High whiteness, fineness at least passing through 325 mesh.
